H Filtering Order Tracking

Résumé

We present a new approach based on H Filtering Order Tracking (HF_OT) for the fault diagnosis of rotating machinery under non-stationary conditions. This approach is different from the classical Vold Kalman Filtering Order Tracking technique (VKF_OT) in various respects. The main improvement is that a priori knowledge of the noise statistics is not required. Indeed, the estimation criterion for the filtering consists in minimizing the worst possible amplification of the estimation error signal in relation to the modelling errors and additive noises. During the last years several contributions have been published on the use of the H theory for estimation in control engineering science. The objective of this methodology is to design an H estimator without any knowledge about the measurement noise statistics, which is often the case in real world applications. The new method is formulated in terms of state space models. The rotation speed variations are supposed to be known. The envelopes of the orders, which can be characteristic of the damage, are unknown. The state variables corresponding to these envelope signals are estimated by an H approach. A numerical example is used to show the efficiency of the new approach.
